Our client in Hopkinsville, Ky. is looking for a Quality Engineer to work in their R&D Department.

This is a full time permanent position.

Salary is dependent on experience (Recruiter will discuss)

JOB SUMMARY:
  • Responsible for designing new products and improving existing nonwoven products for the automotive headliner market;
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for development of new product from prototype to production, meeting customer requirements;
  • Coordinate and run product trials in forming line & printing line and attending trial at customer site;
  • Develop/formulate new print paste recipes and binder recipes;
  •  Responsible to match the color to customer standard using color-measuring techniques Spectrophotometer & Light box and ensure the color consistency of the product throughout its life;
  • Create/Update bill of materials, routings & track production operations using QAD;
  • Perform testing of materials under customer specifications & ASTM/AATCC standards;
  • Create work instructions, manufacturing procedures & provide technical assistance to the plant to ensure continuous process improvement;
  •  Work closely with Account managers on new projects & developments and Quality team on defective part – root cause analysis;
  • Work closely with Production team to improve productivity; Provide statistical data  to back up productivity ideas;
  • Prepare/update International material data sheets (IMDS) & contribute to Process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA), Advanced product quality planning (APQP) & Production part approval plan (PPAP);
  • Support Company marketing strategies with projects as well as support and actively contribute to Company standards for safety and quality and comply with all Company guidelines for maintaining the environment.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BS degree: Textiles, Clothing and Design or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);
  • Three (3) years of experience; Experience must include Acrylic binder; use of Spectrophotmeter and Lightbox; QAD; and ASTM/AATCC standards and statistical tools
