Architect/Sr. Architect


Main duties: 
 
Working with the internal teams on projects to deliver solutions to our clients. 
All projects are different, some are quite small being delivered in three months, whilst some are multi-year programs of work, but they all involve working closely with client staff, both technical and business to help shape the solutions and ensure the delivery team understand what is needed.
 
Architect Role
The key architecture activities you will be involved in include:
Shaping the project with other senior staff
Developing architectural solutions
Validation solutions produced by clients
Working with the teams on design and estimation tasks
Meeting clients to help scope opportunities, before the project starts
 
Also the growth of architecture skills within our company are very important, so you will contribute to the development of the architecture discipline.
There will be travel to our Delivery Units in Central and Eastern Europe on an occasional basis for a few days at a time and potentially travel to our client’s sites.
 
Skills Required: 
Essential: 
Expertise with architecting, designing, developing, deploying and trouble-shooting either Java (J2EE and J2SE) or .NET based solutions.
Extensive experience in enterprise application architectures, deployment, environments and non-functional concerns (scalability, performance, availability, reliability, security etc.)
Strong knowledge of modern frameworks — O/R mapping (e.g. Hibernate/ADO.NET), Dependency Injection (e.g. Spring/Unity), etc.
Knowledge of functional programing approach 
Very familiar with a broad range of architectural patterns and styles (e.g. SOA, ESB, Message Driven Architecture, Event Driven Architecture, etc.)
Experience of modernizing legacy architectures
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure to support an enterprise solution.  (eg. AWS, VMWare, Azure)
Working knowledge of database architectures, data modelling, SQL, relational principles, eventual consistency non-relational approaches.
Exposure to offshore development using agile & planned iterative delivery techniques.
Expert in an architectural notations such as UML or Archimate.  
A good understanding of architectural views and documentation
Able to articulate the business domain knowledge gained while performing above roles
Experience of working on bids with multiple stakeholders, or similar experience working on in-house business cases and developing estimates
Desirable: 
Familiarity with advanced topics such as Distributed Cache, Multi-threading, Master Data Management, etc.
Good tuning skills within a complex multi-JVM cluster (Garbage Collection, Disk I/O characteristics, Distributed Locking).
Strong knowledge of configuration, optimization and management of at least one commercial and one open-source Java application servers such as WebSphere, JBoss/WildFily, WebLogic, Tomcat/Geronimo
Experience of Continuous Delivery
Experience of Microservces
Experience of technically leading development teams
Experience of visiting prospective clients and working with sales and account managers
Knowledge of high throughput, low latency systems
Experience working in the Financial Services or Media sectors
